Project Overview
For Dogwood Landscaping & Gardening, I wanted to create a brand-focused reel that felt different from traditional service advertisements.
Instead of directly promoting a specific landscaping service, the concept focused on something simpler: making the Dogwood identity memorable.
The result was a fast-paced social media reel built around one consistent element — the Dogwood logo — appearing across a constantly changing series of outdoor environments.
The Idea
The concept started with a simple question:
"How can I make a logo itself interesting enough to become the content?"
I printed the Dogwood logo and photographed it in approximately 60 different locations, surfaces, textures, and natural environments.
Flowers, gravel, pavement, plants, and other outdoor settings continually changed, while the logo remained the visual anchor.
Rather than telling viewers about the brand, the reel was designed to make them repeatedly see and recognize it.
Creative Direction
Consistency became the most important part of the concept.
Across every photograph, I kept the logo in approximately the same position and scale, while intentionally changing the environment surrounding it.
When the images were placed sequentially, this created the illusion that the logo remained still while the world around it changed.
The contrast between the simple black-and-white identity and the variety of natural colors and textures also helped keep the logo recognizable throughout the reel.
From Photography to Motion
After photographing the logo across dozens of environments, I arranged the images into a rapid sequence and synchronized the transitions with music.
Each photograph appears briefly before immediately changing to the next environment.
The repetition creates a simple visual rhythm:
"Same Brand → New Environment → Same Brand → New Environment"
Instead of relying on complex animation, the movement comes entirely from the transition between real photographs.
This gives the reel an energetic, handmade quality while keeping the brand consistently at the center of attention.
Marketing Strategy
The purpose of this reel was brand awareness rather than direct promotion.
Landscaping marketing often focuses heavily on before-and-after images or individual services. For this piece, I explored a different approach by making the brand identity itself the subject of the content.
Repeated exposure to the same logo across changing scenes creates visual consistency while giving viewers something new to look at with every transition.
The outdoor locations also naturally connect the identity to the environment in which Dogwood operates.
"One constant. Many environments. One recognizable brand."
Outcome
The final reel transformed approximately 60 individual photographs into one cohesive piece of short-form branded content.
What made the experiment successful creatively was the balance between consistency and change: the surroundings continuously shift, while the logo provides a recognizable visual anchor.
The project demonstrates how a relatively simple idea can become engaging social media content through creative direction, photography, composition, repetition, rhythm, and editing.
It also reinforced an important idea in my marketing work:
"Not every advertisement needs to explain a service. Sometimes the goal is simply to make the brand memorable."
